Henry's First Birthday

Happy Monday!!! I wanted to first start off by saying a HUGE thank to each and every family member, friend and vendor that helped us make Henry’s first birthday party a huge success! I have had so many dm’s asking questions from what time we had the party, invitations, and what food we served. So today I am sharing all of that on the blog!

xo, P

What time did you host Henry’s party and how long did it go until?

We started the party at 2 pm because I thought it would be a good time with Henry’s and other kid’s naptime. We had people stay as late as 8:30 pm.

Where did you order your invites?

Jillian, from Rose Design Co Studio designed Henry’s invites and I printed them at Costco. (Better quality and price than Kinko’s or Staples! I highly recommend Jillian for your events!)

Where did you get most of your decor?

Henry’s banners, large balloon with tassels, cake topper were all from Yay! A Partay . She has the cutest stuff whether it’s for a shower, bachelorette, holidays, etc. Her customer service/packaging is phenomenal!

How many guests did you have at the party?

We invited around 55 and ended up with 49 (ten of those were children)

What type of food did you serve?

We hosted the party at 2 pm so we knew we would have guests that either skipped lunch or were about to eat an early dinner. We ordered about 6 pizzas. I made two crockpots of pulled BBQ chicken. We also had a couple of veggie trays. My mom ordered 4 trays of deli spreads from our local Polish deli. We also had Andy’s frozen custard for dessert in addition to the cake and cake pops. I made sure we had lots of snacks and candy for the kiddos too! Although my husband’s friends ate most of that hahaha! My mother in law also made an adorable race track bean dip/guac tray! We had the perfect amount of food for that many people. The only food leftover was half a tray of deli meat/cheese.

Where did you order Henry’s birthday cake/smash cake?

Henry’s birthday cake I ordered from our local Marianos. It was delicious and under $30!!! Mine and Josh’s niece actually made Henry’s smash cake herself. She did such an amazing job!

Where did you host Henry’s party?

We hosted it at our apartment building’s party room. We are very grateful that we have an amazing crew at our building and they are very accommodating any time we have an event.

Did you have any entertainment for the party? Petting zoo? Face painting?

We hired a local balloon artist and he was great! Unfortunately he’s in high school and had homecoming so he could only stay for an hour haha. But he was a HUGE hit with the kids and some of the adults who requested swords and crowns hahaha! We didn’t want to go overboard because we wanted the party to still be low key and face painting tends to get messy. I highly recommend some sort of entertainment for any kid’s party. Even a coloring station. The parents will get to enjoy themselves and so will the kids!

How long did it take you to create the balloon wall?

The actual set up was about 30-45 minutes. You NEED packaging tape. Regular tape will not work. I started blowing up the balloons about 2 days ahead of time. When I still had the balloons I counted a total of 178 balloons!!! So. Many. Balloons! I purchased most of them in packs at the dollar store so in a sense it’s a very great and inexpensive decor idea. It is just very time consuming.

It wouldn’t be a birthday party without some Andy’s Frozen Custard!
